That’s the honest explanation for why a UC-A40 price per square meter sits above a generic indoor LED wall.

If someone quotes you a cinema LED price that looks like a deal, ask three things: Does the contract name the exact DCI-certified model? Is the architecture supported by DCI-validated media servers? And can the seller provide the certificate? Per FTC advertising guidance (ftc.gov), claims have to be substantiated. A DCI claim is no exception.

Government LED Screen: The Bid Amount Is Only the Beginning

Government LED screen procurement is where I see the biggest gap between approved budget and final cost. It’s not because public agencies are naive; it’s because procurement systems reward predictable compliance. If the bid didn’t include structural engineering, permitting, transportation to the site, and five-year spare parts, those become change orders—and change orders are painful in that environment.

  • QC documentation: Can they show test data for brightness uniformity, color binning, and failure rates? Do they name the bin grade?
  • Vertical integration: If they only buy components and assemble, that’s fine for some jobs. For mission-critical screens, you want a manufacturer who controls quality at the cabinet level.
  • Field history: Ask for references in the same category—cinema, government, events, retail—not a happy customer in an unrelated industry.
  • Service network: If you’re 600 miles from the factory, who shows up? Is that in the warranty?
