Every vendor claims "high brightness," "wide viewing angle," and "excellent color uniformity." The difference between a display that runs for eight years and one that fails at month nine is rarely in the headline specs.
This checklist is for anyone evaluating LED display vendors: system integrators, cinema operators, restaurant owners, and event companies. I'm a quality inspector at an LED display manufacturer. I review roughly 200 unique display configurations a year before they ship, and I've rejected about 15% of first-run samples in 2024 due to color drift, brightness mismatch, or spec sheets that didn't match the actual product. Here's what I've learned reviewing transparent LED products: higher transparency means fewer LED pixels per square meter, which generally means lower brightness and coarser image detail. A 60% transparent screen will look different from an 85% transparent screen—not just in how much you can see through it, but in how the image appears in daylight.
When comparing transparent LED quotes, look at three numbers together:
- Transparency ratio—what percentage of light passes through
- Brightness (nits)—whether the image stays visible in ambient light
